Menu for Hope: Win a street food tour in Nice, prize EU23

Menu for Hope

The Christmas season is off to a late start at our house: I haven't so much as baked a single cookie, though this weekend I hope to try this recipe and David's instant mincemeat. I might not get around to making Christmas pudding this year and will probably be among the desperate shoppers at the toy stores on Christmas Eve (I shudder at the thought), but there is one tradition I won't give up: taking part in Menu for Hope, hosted by the tireless Pim of Chez Pim.

This year's event is once again raising money for the UN World Food Program to fund a sustainable school lunch program in Lesotho. Last year more than $90,000 were raised in an incredible show of generosity; this year's aim is to match or better that. The investment required is small, even by current economic standards: a $10 raffle ticket will give you the chance to win a spectacular prize such as a Cuisinart professional-style ice cream maker, a year's worth of coffee, and (ahem) my fabulous prize of the walking tour A Taste of Nice for two people.

Introduced this year, this three-hour tour explores the unique street food tradition in France's most Italian city, where people stop at picnic tables at any time of day to snack on socca, pissaladière and tourte de blettes. After touring the colorful food market with plenty of nibbles along the way, we'll wander through the narrow streets of the Old Town, stopping at traditional food shops to learn more about local olive oil, cheese and charcuterie.

You'll find the full list of prizes at Chez Pim and the list of European prizes at Ms. Adventures in Italy. Many prizes can be shipped anywhere in the world, though some (including the ice-cream maker) do have restrictions. Once you're selected your prize number(s), visit the FirstGiving website to buy your raffle ticket.

I already know what I hope to win, but I'm not telling.

How fun! If I win, does that mean you'll take me back to Chez Pipo?

I would love to, David, but Pipo is only open in the evenings. However, I've found a great substitute!
